Loom and Leaf Mattress Review

loom-and-leaf-mattress
Expensive mattresses that sag too early have been the most frustrating experience for me. All that splurging for a good mattress and I am always left with resentment and disappointment.  These mattresses boast about loads of special features that will make your sleep more comfortable, however, boasting is all these brands do.

Seeing such response from mattress companies that sell to retail stores, where you can touch and feel the mattresses, I expected no better from online stores.  However, after hearing so many positive reviews for Saatva mattresses, I decided to give their memory foam mattresses, Loom and Leaf a shot.  Loom and Leaf is a part of Saatva Company and offers the same advantages as the Saatva mattresses.

It was established in 2015.They effectively eliminate the middleman by directly selling to the customers online. The major difference between Loom and Leaf and Saatva is that Saatva is more of an innerspring mattress while Loom and Leaf is a memory foam mattress. This indicates Loom and Leaf mattresses are designed to contour perfectly to your body shape.

Normally, I am skeptical of memory foam mattresses as a quick online search will show you problems with sleeping ‘hot’ as well as feelings of being ‘trapped’. However, after using the Loom and Leaf myself, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it keeps you cooler than a regular mattress and does not engulf you, like other such memory foam mattresses.

Loom and Leaf  Sizes and Prices

loom-and-leaf-mattress-bed

The Loom and Leaf mattresses come in a total of six sizes. I was astonished to find out so as many retail stores only hold two or three sizes.

The sizes are the Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and California King. All the mattresses only have a height of about 12 inches. These mattresses only come at this height. The mattresses come in two kinds of comfort levels Relaxed firm and Firm.

The prices of the Loom and Leaf mattress are jaw-droppingly low when compared to other retail memory foam brands. A standard Queen-sized memory foam mattress at any retail stores costs no less than $4000, however, a loom and leaf one merely costs $1099. The full price details of different sizes of the Loom and Leaf Mattresses are as below:

SizeDimension
Twin38" x 75"
Twin XL38" x 80"
Full Size 54" x 75"
Queen60" x 80"
King76" x 80"
California King72" x 84"

I ordered mine in King Size and must say, it fits perfectly all around. The memory foam provides firmness as well as contours around the body. I hate nightly perspirations and have found this a huge problem in mattresses. The Loom and Leaf very elegantly handle this problem while being cheap and affordable.

Why To Buy Loom and Leaf Mattresses ?

Whereas other memory foam mattresses tend to get you feel ‘trapped’ by sinking you in and engulfing you whole, the Loom and Leaf provides you with just the right amount of contouring and shaping to hold your body firmly whilst not making you feel ‘trapped’. Loom and Leaf Mattresses come in six different sizes Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and California King.

The most remarkable feature of the mattresses is two different comfort levels, namely, Relaxed Firm and Firm. The two varieties offer customers a choice between different feels that suits their sleeping needs the best. The most intriguing feature and my personal favorite is that it sleeps cool. This means no worrying about waking up drenched in sweet or feeling hot while sleeping. With the new technology gel layer as well as the extremely breathable cover, I found the mattress to be very comfortable and relaxing.

Loom and Leaf mattresses are made of plant-based memory foam, which produces no off-gassing or other harmful substances. If you, like me, hate the smell of a new mattress, then Loom and Leaf are for you. The green mattress generously helps you with any back or spine ailments you suffer from.  It therapeutically molds your body and provides it the support it needs.

The Loom and Leaf offer a variety of benefits to the buyer, which I can assure you, are all true!

My Experience With Loom and Leaf

LoomAndLeafMattressReviews

After hearing some raving reviews about the Saatva, I decided to try out their memory foam mattresses as their website boasted about millions of different specifications. One look at the price and I was left speechless! Never had I ever found such cheap mattresses in any retail stores around my locality. I immediately expected there to be millions of taxes, however, I was proved wrong as only additional shipping charges were included.

I decided on the Relaxed Firm mattresses, which came highly recommended by other users as it was just the right balance of firmness and softness. The online procedure was quick and hassle-free. You only need to select the options that suit your needs the best.

After opting the king size bed, I waited patiently for the movers to deliver it. They gave me a four-hour window in which they were sure to arrive. Expecting them to be late, I went out to run some errands. I was glad to find the movers waiting for me at my doorstep. The mattress was successfully moved in and my old mattress was removed at absolutely no cost.

Let me bring this out in the clear, I am not a morning person. Back pains and stiffness do not make it enjoyable for me to wake up. However, the Loom and Leaf have eliminated any stiffness and have made my mornings enjoyable and easy.

All in all, Loom and Leaf is an excellent mattress at an affordable price. The reviews certainly didn’t lie!

Product Description and Manufacturing

Loom and Leaf Construction

Loom and Leaf Mattresses started production in 2015. The sole purpose of this excursion by Saatva was to provide customers with luxury brand memory foam mattresses you would normally find to be around $4K-$5K at an affordable price. They are a little expensive than the innerspring mattresses, however, the difference is only about $100, whereas, in regular mattresses, the differences can reach up to $1000.

Loom and Leaf Mattresses are manufactured in the USA. The company has 145 fulfillment centers to take care of all customers’ needs. The 19 factories are spread out all through the U.S. and provide factory fresh mattresses to all its customers without any additional taxes on the retail store.

All the mattresses are carefully handcrafted by certified professionals. The quality assurance department checks each mattress for any defects. Then and only then, the mattresses are approved for shipping.

All foams and gel layers are sourced within the U.S. It does not matter if you live in the hustle bustle of the city or in the remotest of locations, Loom and Leaf will deliver at your doorstep. I loved how they are willing to ship all throughout the U.S., in all 50 states.

Construction

The Loom and Leaf mattresses feature two different firmness levels, i.e. the Relaxed Firm and the Firm. Both variants are only available in one height that is the 12 inches. They are both available in all six sizes. The Loom and Leaf Mattress features four different layers to provide maximum comfort to you when you sleep.

The organic covering is extremely breathable while the gel layer provides the ‘sleep cool’ feature that most memory foam mattresses usually lack. The memory foam and the breathable foam ensure a cool night’s sleep.

The Queen-sized version of both comfort varieties is available with an adjustable base, which is available through Saatva as well. The Adjustable Base provides more comfort and support to your body by contorting it in the healthiest and relaxed way possible.

Covers And Its Layers

The four layers of the Loom and Leaf mattresses are expertly crafted and ensure maximum satisfaction of the customer. I love how the different features of each layer provide a unique feature to the mattress, that when considered feels like heaven on a plate. The four layers are:

  • Organic Cotton Cover – As a person allergic to almost everything, I was glad that the cover of the Loom and Leaf was 100% organic cotton. This meant no itching or scratching myself due to the tough nylon covers.  The cover is soft and breathable, which is a huge plus for anyone who wants to avoid heating up figuring sleeping. The cover is quilted with 5/8 inches of foam on top that provide additional support. The overall look of the cover is great as well!
  • Cooling Spinal Gel – The patented gel-on-gel design makes it easier for the customers to sleep easy and cool. The technology is laminated on the top of the foam and is strategically placed in such a position that ensures proper support to the spine is provided.
  • Visco Elastic Memory Foam – The 5lb of Visco elastic memory foam is the heart of the mattress. It perfectly contours and shapes to your body to provide you with maximum support. This feature has helped me a lot with my numerous spinal ailments as it fills in any gaps and spaces and lifts your body upward.
  • Dual Layer Breathable Support –The 5.5-inch support base provides the necessary support to all the above layers and is highly dense. On top of the support, base sits a transition loft which provides a suitable connection between the base and the viscoelastic memory foam.

Firmness and Bounce

The main problem with most memory foam mattresses is that the firmness needs to be just right. Too soft and you end up being trapped in quicksand, too firm and you will end up feeling like lying on top of a table. The two comfort levels, Loom and Leaf provide, are a perfect balance of both.

loom-and-leaf-firmness-chart

The Relaxed Firm comfort level is the flagship comfort level and lies in the middle of their comfort scale. It is not too soft neither too hard and lies in the ‘just right’ range. The firm mattresses are a little too hard and may be preferred by those with a larger frame or whom the doctors recommend it due to some health issues.

Edge Support

LoomAndLeafMemoryFoamConstructionOne of the most annoying problems I must face is the foundation of the bed digging into my thighs when I sit on the edge of the mattress. The feelings are intensified when using a memory foam mattress since they need to reshape themselves according to the user’s body. So, when I first got my own Loom and Leaf Mattress, the first thing I did was check the edge support. I was extremely pleased with how well it could hold me and I could not feel any poking.

If you tend to sleep with a partner, edge support can matter a lot, as you will often find yourself rolling on to the edge since there is no space. Loom and Leaf provide you with the same support at the edges as it would in the middle.

Motion Transfer

Another problem you might face when sharing a bed is motion transfer. The other’s tossing and turning in the middle of the night will surely awaken you form your deep slumber or vice versa. Loom and Leaf effectively eliminate this problem and ensures no motion transfer happens. So, you can toss and turn all you want, your partner won’t even notice.

For all those who share a bed, elimination of motion transfer is a great feature that ensures a night of deep sleep without disturbances.

Sleeping Position Suitability

The two different comfort levels are suitable for different types of positions. The table below will help you find which one is for you:

Relaxed FirmFirm
• On your side.• On your back
• On your back• On your stomach
• On your stomach.

Warranty of Loom and Leaf

Unlike other mattress companies that provide merely 10 years of warranty, Loom and Leaf one-up them by offering you with 15 years of warranty. The Loom and Leaf mattresses are built to last up to 15 years! I found this to be remarkable when I compared this with other mattresses!

The 15 years if warranty makes it a great investment when you compare that to the price. I recommend everyone to buy one because of such customer friendly warranty policies.

They Offer The Following Terms

  •  For the first two years, Saatva is willing to replace your mattress with a brand-new mattress free of cost. The only charges included will be transportation cost of bringing in your new mattress and sending back the old one.
  • They provide a Fairness Replacement Option as well which allows you to keep your mattress after repairing or allows you to buy a new one at a percentage of the original price. The percentage ranges from.
    30% from 3-5 years
    50% from 6-10 years
    75% from 11-15 years
  • The warranty cannot be claimed if the bedding has burned or damaged.
  • It will be void if there is more than 1 in of body impressions.

Loom and Leaf King, Queen and Twin Sizes

The Loom and Leaf offer six sizes, including three traditional sizes, the King, Queen and Twin sizes. All three sizes are available in 12 inches of height and the two comfort levels. There is no difference in any features of the mattresses except for their weights and sizes which are as follows:

SpecificationsKingQueenTwin
Dimensions76" x 80"60" x 80"38" x 75"
Weight145 lbs.120 lbs.100 lbs.

The Queen Mattress comes in a split version as well which makes it easier for it to fit throw narrow pathways or stairs. The manufacturer claims there are no differences between the two and are the same thing with the added difference between being able to be split down the center.

Trial period and Return Policy

Since the company operates under Saatva, the Return Policy is the same as well. If you found that the mattress was not right for you, Loom and Leaf are willing to return the mattress for a full refund, only the transportation costs will have to be paid by you.

I know what you are thinking, so they repackage it and sell it to someone else? Could mine be a repackaged one? No, Loom and Leaf ensure no mattress refunded is sold again. They instead, choose to serve our larger community and donate the mattress to those in need.

The Return Policy is very customer-friendly as well and ensures that you are left fully satisfied. If you find that the mattress does not suit your need or has been damaged during delivery, Saatva allows you to refund it for the full price within 120 days.

The trial period for the mattress is 120 days! I found this to be extremely helpful as it helps you evaluate whether you find the mattress to be the right one for you. I completed my trial and found that I loved the mattress since it was so easy on my back.

Changes In Its Designs

Loom and Leaf started merely two years ago and has expanded country-wide and achieved acclaim. Since then it has had little time to change its design. However, in 2016, a change did take place on the cover of the mattress. The new quilting pattern was redone in a tighter manner that was close together at the center.

This design change proved not to be merely an aesthetic one, but a functional one as well. It created more support for your mid-section and helped users create better spinal alignment with the bed.

Support

The support base of the loom and leaf is one of best when it comes to memory foams. The base support system provides the best support to the spine and neck and ensures proper alignment of these parts. The Support system of Loom and Leaf includes:

I am text block. Click edit button to change this text. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

5.5” inches of Base Support

The 5.5-inch support base provides the necessary support to all the above layers and is highly dense. However, it does have breathable air pockets that allow air to circulate through and thus provides breathability along with support.

2” inches of Transition Loft Pad

The Transition Loft Pad is between the support base and the memory foam layer. The job of the pad is to transfer motion and allows the top layers to remain in connection with the support layer. This comes in handy when talking about motion transfer. It works vertically to allow the layers above and below to work with each other. This ensures support, conformity, and good spinal health.

I found the support system at Loom and leaf to be excellent! The edge support is great as well as discusses previously. It certainly does not sag or leave body impressions within a few years

The terms are once again the same as Saatva company. The shipping requires you to choose your own day of delivery as is convenient to you. The company provides a four-hour window to the time you have stated and ensures that the mattress is delivered within that window. The delivery people wait for 20 minutes if you are not home, and return the mattress to the factory while giving you a full refund except for the $99 for transportation costs. I had to make the delivery people wait, however, I am certainly glad they did not just go away. I would’ve missed the chance to try out such an amazing product.

What Makes You Buy Loom and Leaf Mattresses?

My experiences, unexpectedly, turned out amazingly well as the mattress turned out to be super supportive of my frame as well as comfortable.

The gel reduces any heating issues and ensures the user sleeps ‘cool’. The memory foam, very carefully contours around your body and ensures no gap or spaces are left. This provides the ultimate support to the body. The prevention of motion transfer and edge support are the most intriguing features as they ensure you get a comfortable night’s sleep.

The thing that sets the deal is the price. Memory foam mattresses cost a lot, up to $4000. However, the Loom and Leaf give this effective competition by having all sizes under $2000.

So, if you are extremely budget conscious and still require the full benefits of a memory foam mattress like spinal health, support, conformity and cooling, then Loom and Leaf is the best option for you.
